Cleveland students are able to appreciate the importance of following our PRIDE agreements in order to be the best that they can be!
Cleveland also has many enrichment and co-curricular activities, including before school intramurals, Walking and Jogging Club, Eastern Iowa Arts Academy opportunities in areas of are and music, and an after school sports program for fourth and fifth graders. Besides the District's gifted and talented program, Cleveland students also have the opportunity to participate in Spanish in Kindergarten through 4th grade. Cleveland has the English Language Learners Program and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program which allow students the opportunity to learn a variety of backgrounds and cultural experiences.
The community is extremely involved and supportive of the work at Cleveland Elementary. The neighborhood church, Christ Church Presbyterian, provides early dismissal programming for students along with partnering with HACAP to provide the Backpack food program to students in need. Matthew 25 also provides Book Buddies to first graders needing extra support. The Parent Teacher Association offers many experiences, including extra-curricular field trips, funding for special school projects, and more. Van Meter Company has also supported Cleveland over the years as another business partner.
Cleveland School opened in January 1950. It sits on a beautiful campus that provides ample playground space for students. An addition was built in 1953. A 34-station Computer Lab is utilized by all of the classrooms as well as a 25 station mobile lab.
